We always have a great Kids Club program here at Emerald Beach Holiday Park but this holidays we are giving them the world!

Each day is themed and from Japan to Egypt there will be food, craft and fun to give our Kids Club a real international flavour. Activities range from boomerang making, ping pong competitions, gum boot throwing and pizza making. Or, how about making your own Safari Binoculars then watching the Madagascar movies?

Our good friends at Solitary Islands Surf School are running their popular Surf Groms program right here at Emerald Beach Holiday Park this summer. With courses starting Monday December 19th and running through until January 15th 2012 kids aged between 5 and 12 years old, regardless of experience or ability, can learn to surf with local and former World Longboarding Champion Harley Ingleby. SurfGroms develops skills in surfing that kids can enjoy and embrace for a lifetime, and offer them an opportunity to have fun at the beach whilst developing strong ocean awareness and beach safety skills at a very influential period in their lives in a safe and supervised environment.

Food and Sustainability Festival

Who doesn’t love a fresh home grown tomato or greens straight from the garden?

The Coffs Coast Sustainable Living Festival is a community celebration of all things “sustainability”, showcasing environmentally sustainable ideas, products, and practices to help us live more happily and healthily, in harmony with our surrounding environment.

Held from October 30 you can enjoy demonstrations, workshops, walks, presentations and children’s events. There will be two very special guests – Costa Georgiadis, host of the well known SBS series Costa’s Garden Odyssey and Dirtgirl from the ABC kids show Dirtgirlworld. There is even a Scarecrow competition with local schools invited to let their imagination run wild for a $600 prize.

The festival culminates with the Botanica Spring Festival at the North Coast Regional Botanic Gardens on November 6th and the full program can be seen here

Wooli Goanna Pulling Championships

Don’t panic, kids! We’re not really mistreating our native animals. That is the name of just one event at the Wooli Goanna-Pulling Championships on October 2..

“When most people think about woodchopping, kids’ rides, live music, sideshows and food, they’re usually thinking about the show.

One of the event’s organisers, Margy Hewetson, said given it was the event’s 25th anniversary, organisers had pulled out all stops to ensure this year’s event was the biggest ever.

She said with the help of Clarence Valley Council, the Wooli Hotel Motel, and the Wooli River Lodges, the organisers had been able to put together a “cracker” schedule for the day.

Along with the goanna-pulling event, which is open to various age and weight divisions, there will also be a tug of war competition with teams from as far away as Maitland and Brisbane travelling to Wooli to compete.

There will also be brick-carrying races, whip-cracking demonstrations, live music from Norm Heinz, markets and lots more.

“We have got a lot of entertainment on offer – it’s very orientated towards families plus anyone who likes a bit of rough and tumble Australiana,” Ms Hewetson said.

The event will be held at the Wooli Sports ground on the Wooli Rd from 9am (source The Daily Examiner)
