Guest feedback leads to the addition of new binoculars

It really is easy to see why our guests keep returning.  One reason is perhaps, that we listen to their needs.   A recent comment received from a guest about the abundant wildlife in the park has prompted a new addition to our complementary resources.  We now have, free for your use, reference books on native birds as well as a new set of binoculars for bird and whale watching.

In our park, if you close your eyes, it is far from soundless.  Tranquil yes, but silent no.  Pleasantly, it is not just the happy squawks of children that fall upon your ears but also a relaxing chorus of wildlife welcoming you to their piece of paradise.  There are a staggering number of different tweets, chirps and craws that will grace your ears.  We have a current listing of over 100 birds that have been spotted in our park and we challenge our guests to add to our list.  (Please see our attached bird list attached here.)

The stunning array of colourful life of all shapes and sizes that bounce, hop and flit around the park will now be easily identifiable.  Most will have no trouble recognising the group of unusual looking grey marsupials often seen in the park as kangaroos or the mother duck and her babies.  If however, their exact species and that of her other feathered cousins eludes you no longer have to be puzzled.  Now, you can just pop down to the office and borrow our beautifully illustrated book and get a closer look thru the binoculars.

Did you know?

·      That Kangaroos cannot move their back legs one at a time

·      When European explorers first saw these strange hopping animals they asked a native Australian (aborigine) what they were called. He replied “kangaroo” meaning “I don’t understand” your question. The explorers thought this was the animal’s name. And that’s how the kangaroo got its name.

·      A Kangaroo is a marsupial mammal. It is a macropod which means “big foot”.
